Don Wagner of The Land Guys and I headed out for a quick trip to the 480 acres just north of Farmington. The trip turned out to be a little quicker than we expected. I wasn’t able to get out there
until about two hours before sunset so our trip was cut short. However, even in such a short trip, we were able to boat a couple monster fish.
We fished the lake right off the cabin. This is a really cool lake to fish. This lake was built by combining lots of smaller lakes, so there is a ton of shoreline to fish, several shallow channels, and plenty drop-offs. Essentially, it fishes much bigger than it is. It isn’t your standard strip mine fishing lake with two or three hot spots. This lake has a ton or subsurface elevation change so it holds a ton of fish! I can wait to try the other lakes. If we can catch fish like this in a two hour trip (with a broker trolling motor), then I can’t wait to see what a full day produces. Not a bad trip…left peoria around 5:30 and was home by 9:00…with a couple great fish pics!
