LandCo Launches Sister Company | AgFly

In our continued commitment to bringing value to our clients, LandCo has launched sister company AgFly. AgFly is a company dedicated to advancing agricultural and recreational farming practices using drones. Recent years have seen technological improvements in drones that allow for greater, more efficient, and more effective agricultural practices. We are thrilled to bring that value to our clients.

The advantages to our clients who own row crops, both investors and farmers, are clear. Drones provide a more effective and efficient way to do many agricultural practices, including chemical spraying and cover crop seeding. In terms of chemical spraying, drones have several essential advantages when compared to traditional spraying methods. When compared to tractors, drones offer more precision, less overlap, zero ground compaction, and less carbon emissions. When compared to helicopters or airplanes, drones offer greater precision, less drift, less overlap, and less carbon emissions. The bottom line is that drones provide greater precision while limiting the stress on both the current and future crops, which increases yields.

The drones can also broadcast seed or fertilizer. The biggest advantage here is for landowners or farmers who have committed to or want to experiment with, cover crop practices. Many recent studies have shown that cover crops are an excellent way to sustain the health of your soils, reduce erosion, cycle nutrients, retain moisture, lower weed growth, and increase biodiversity. Drones allow for more flexible timing on broadcasting cover crops, including when the crop is currently standing. And they broadcast at a precise seed rate with no soil compaction.

In the recreational land owner world, drones provide value by offering simple solutions to hard jobs. Deer hunters can now simply inter-seed their standing food plots with more forage. We can broadcast things like clover, rape, oats, or wheat into existing stands of corn or beans to create the most complete food plots possible. Similarly, for waterfowl hunters, we can broadcast millet into existing stands of corn, or in areas that are too wet for traditional equipment. We can treat lakes with spray or granular chemicals, in a way that is much more efficient and effective than both shore or boat treatments.
